Respondent's Lunch
Responding is at the heart of what KCACTF offers our schools and we want to say welcome and thank you!! If you are an active respondent or would like to start responding to shows in your area, please join us for a gathering and Region Hosted lunch. There will be a brief orientation outlining the respondent training sessions for the week, a chance to network and reconnect with others who serve the region, and a time for us to celebrate the important work we all do. Please gather downstairs in the host hotel lobby by 11:45 am to walk the short distance to the Paramount together, or meet us there.

Respondent Training
Are you interested in responding to shows throughout the region? This training is aimed at structuring a successful response to shows. Festival participants will practice by seeing festival shows, attending festival responses, and practice responding for each other. This is also a great workshop for folks who are already out in the trenches responding and want to brush up or refine skills. We will have a limited number of copies of Fragile Magic, a book that helps faculty fashion effective and useful responses.

'The Sh*t We Put Up With”: War Stories in Pursuing Academic Theatre
For a TD, the pursuit of tenure can be an exhausting process. When one has to teach at a remote satellite campus of a major university where civilization and culture consist of Wal-Mart, where do you go for outside production work? When one has to deal with tenured faculty who won’t do their job in a timely manner, but can’t be held accountable, what do you do? All too often, the technical faculty are subjected to the same tenure responsibilities as design faculty. Is it fair? Should it be changed?? Come here my story, and see my scars. Decide if I have a valid point or if I am just a whiner.  If you are considering going into academic theatre and have questions or have had problems in the past, this is the workshop for you!
